Both sides of Joel Hall’s Edgewater dance empire–his company and studio–recently moved up the street. They’ve got so much lined up for the housewarming party, though, that they’re having to throw it off-site. Friday April 3 (at 7:30) and Saturday April 4 (at 8), JHDC is performing and will host nine other groups at the Athenaeum for a benefit concert for the company and its new digs. The lineup
- Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre
- Chicago Tap Theatre
- Dimitri Peskov
- Elements Contemporary Ballet
- Glenn Leslie
- Inaside Chicago Dance
- JHD 1511
- Joel Hall Dancers
- Jump Rhythm Jazz Project
- Paul Sanasardo
is no joke (special note to all you JRJP fans: Billy Siegenfeld & Co. are performing in Friday’s show only). Tickets–it’s a benefit, remember–are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and students which, for the record, is less than you would pay under any other circumstances to see all these companies in a single evening. If you really want to grease your path to heaven, $100 “Gold Circle” tix are available for Friday, which include admission to a private pre-show soirée. They’re available through the JHDC or Athenaeum box offices, as well as Ticketmaster. It’s a veritable buffet of fierceness, kids, and I dare say you haven’t danced in Chicago if you haven’t pounded the marley at the JHDC at least once, so go show ’em some love.
